چکیده

Kinetics of enzymic oxidation of indoleacetic acid (ISA) are interpreted as indicating that the reaction has an autocatalytic, cyclical mechanism invol\-ing unst, ablc intermcdiatcs whose formation and disappearance are important in determining the over-all reaction rate. The kinetics do not supporl the idea that IAA oxidation occurs mainly by reaction with Mnt3, nor that the reaction is an electron transfer from IAA to 0, catalyzed by a pcroxidase-HsOrMn+’ complex, nor t,hat Mn is essential to the reaction. H,O, is probably not a major reaction intermediate. One-electron oxidation of IAA by peroxidasc giving a free radical, followed by spontaneous reaction of the radical with oxygen to give a peroxy oxidant which can rcoxitlize the peroxidase to a peroxide complex, appears to be a likcl\mechanism.

Oxidation of indole-3-acetic acid to oxindole-3-acetic acid by an enzyme preparation from Zea mays.

Indole-3-acetic acid is oxidized to oxindole-3-acetic acid by Zea mays tissue extracts. Shoot, root, and endosperm tissues have enzyme activities of 1 to 10 picomoles per hour per milligram protein. The enzyme is heat labile, is soluble, and requires oxygen for activity. Cofactors of mixed function oxygenase, peroxidase, and intermolecular dioxygenase are not stimulatory to enzymic activity....

The Kinetics of Tripropylammonium Fluorochromate Oxidation of Mandelic Acids

The oxidation of Mandelic Acids (MA) to the corresponding oxoacids with tripropylammonium fluorochromate (TriPAFC) in aqueous acetic acid has been studied. The reaction is first order with respect to [TriPAFC], [MA] and [H+]. The oxidation of α-deuteriomandelic acid shows the presence of a primary ki...

Peroxidase-catalyzed co-oxidation of indole-3-acetic acid and xanthene dyes in the absence of hydrogen peroxide.

The effect of xanthene dyes on the chemiluminescence from the aerobic indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) oxidation, catalyzed by horseradish peroxidase (HRP), was studied. The rate of IAA oxidation and dye destruction were controlled. It was found that the addition of dyes to the IAA/HRP/O2 system resulted in: (i) the appearance of emission in the region of dye fluorescence, (ii) an increase of the tot...

Inactivity of Oxidation Products of Indole-3-acetic Acid on Ethylene Production in Mung Bean Hypocotyls.

The suggestion that indole-3-acetic acid (IAA)-stimulated ethylene production is associated with oxidative degradation of IAA and is mediated by 3-methyleneoxindole (MOI) has been tested in mung bean (Phaseolus aureus Roxb.) hypocotyl segments. While IAA actively stimulated ethylene production, MOI and indole-3-aldehyde, the major products of IAA oxidation, were inactive. Tissues treated with a...

Kinetic, mechanistic and thermodynamic investigations on Iridium (III) catalyzed oxidation of D-Mannitol by N-chloro-p-toluenesulfonamide in perchloric acid medium

The present paper deals with the kinetics and mechanism of homogeneously Ir(III) chloride catalyzed oxidation of D-mannitol by chloramine-T [CAT] in perchloric acid medium in the temperature range of 30 to 45 0C. The reaction is carried out in the presence of mercuric acetate as a scavenger for chloride ion. The experimental results show first order kinetics with respect to the oxidant [CAT] an...
